Flirting is a common form of social interaction whereby one person obliquely indicates a romantic or sexual interest towards another. It can consist of conversation, body language, or brief physical contact. It may be one-sided or reciprocated (encouraged) with intentions of getting to know that person on a higher level.

Flirting may involve speaking and behaving in a way that suggests greater intimacy than is generally considered appropriate to the relationship or the period that they have known each other, without actually saying or doing anything that breaches any serious social norms. This may be accomplished by communicating a sense of playfulness or irony. Double entendres, with one meaning more formally appropriate and another more suggestive, may be used.

While some of the subconscious signs are universal across cultures, flirting etiquette varies significantly across cultures which can lead to misunderstandings. There are differences in how closely people should stand (proxemics), how long to hold eye contact, and so forth.

I really don't understand which term on the above could people really misunderstand. When people tend to say they are flirting others, it means they want to have sexual intercourse with them instead of being friends with them. It's a huge bloody insult for your girlfriend or boyfriend when their partner insulted those who communicates with him/her with the crime flirting. Some people are either too sensitive, or they just want to act smart in front of the others by using their "boombastick" English around without knowing it's meaning.

I know friend through my own way and obviously I don't need any comments from the rest. Nevertheless, if jealousy came across the human's mind, please at least think first before giving comments to me. Don't insult me with words like flirting around when I never even do so.

But yet, someone could even condemn me for flirting when all I did is just write "STUDY STUDY STUDY in a person's FACEBOOK wall??!!

Now I realize that different culture have a different meaning of flirting. Nevertheless, the way to make friends here is something I haven't understand yet. Clearly, as long as there are some guys/girls who adores a person here, it is best to leave that person alone, unless you have interest on them. Or else, you will never know when you will be accused for FLIRTING around. Sigh. This is the bloody second time me getting such accuse. Damn it. Get a life! Learn the word before using them please. For God's sake. Pathetic!
